Active Degeneration

In the mirror, only I exist.

Bone covered by muscle, and muscle covered by skin. Yet beneath it all, resides a slow process. The dying of cells, the fracturing of DNA… the steady record, of my decay.

In these moments of self-reflection, there is no denying the count. The persistent tick towards death. The running hairline, squeaky knees, and clicky jaw. The human mind knows all too well it’s path, it’s trajectory… it’s arrow of fate.

How then to make peace with these years? These decades of degeneration.

Distraction? Disillusionment? Despair?

Perhaps there isn’t an answer. Thus, my way through the void. My way towards solace, is through the advent of acceptance. A digestion of the truth, the acute understanding that so long as time exists in this world, I have no way out.

In essence, my fate was sealed at birth. My prison erected at conception. Time, is my eternal warden.
