Attuned Words… A Poem Of Writing And Imagination

i am attuned in my heart

with the word and words

they fall from me like cells

Butterflies that stretch their wings

from the depths of hell inside,

stewing in a literary soup

they flutter out toward freedom

The words write themselves across this page

skittering, clawing and rolling away

over blank space

once white and now all splattered

with black pressed ink

it is like mud and asphalt leaked in snow

eclipsing crisp paleness, once virgin in its purity

now sullied by brisk language

unfurled thoughts

emotions that may twist with pain

— the page is

touched twice over from top to bottom

By the stories I now write.
