Flourished Gold… A Poem Of Birth And Adversity

I didn’t ask to be born into this world

I was forced into it

Like a seed planted

Watered and blessed with sunlight to sprout

Cultivated by a life within

Nurtured by milk and river water

Cuddled to a mother’s breast

Who didn’t want me,

Brought into this life as an accident

A mistake made and taken for granted

A financial burden to tow around

And use for tax deductions

Now I am grown

Now I have flourished

Now you march, bringing axe to a tree

In the hopes you can cut me down
