Restart With Knowledge

He wishes for self-sabotage

A do-over, a new beginning before

the sudden end.

He wishes to start again

from white chalk line and ready up

like an unsure runner

Now that we have followed rainbows

and found our pot of gold,

He wants to turn back

go over mountain through freezing tunnels

across desert and wide ocean

Sail the hellish waves beneath an unseen sun

back to darkness where we began

and make the trek as if blindfolded

But he is not blindfolded and knows the way

following the rocky paths with subtle peaks

Here, then there

as if struggle were a game

and the privilege of success, a ride

to be relived

re-accomplished and experienced like a TV show

One watches years later as if it is still new.
